Use Dropbox and Automator to print remotely.

Print Files from Any Phone or Remote Computer via Dropbox is a very simple way to use Dropbox to automate remote printing.

I can be on my laptop at the airport, drop a file in my Dropbox Print folder and it will be printed for me when I get home. The PDF gets moved to a Print -> Completed folder.

Here’s how to make duplex printing the default setting on your home computer (via Apple):

“Go to http://127.0.0.1:631/printers and find your printer. Click on the button *Set Printer Options*. You should select duplex printing and the orientation that you want to make default. Be sure to click the *Set Printer Options* button when you are done. You will have to supply your administrator’s short user name and password.”

You may need to enable the web interface for printing control. Open Terminal and type: cupsctl WebInterface=”yes”

    1. Did you go to Terminal and do cupsctl WebInterface=”yes”? Did you then go to the http://127.0.0.1:631/printers? Is that when it prompted you for your Admin password? Are you sure you were using the correct admin password?

      1. Yes I did all that. The dialogue is prompted and then I typed my administrator password

        1. I’m not sure I know how to help you.

What error do you receive when you type the password?

Are items not printing when you place them in the folder?
