Setup Client Access

Setup Desktop Access

Basically, iRedMail provides an IMAP and POP interface. Here’s an example set up process for the Apple OS X Mail client:

For the incoming mail server, use your mail domain. But, for outbound mail, use Mailgun’s SMTP settings.

Setup Mobile Access

Setting up access on your phone is nearly identical. Below are screenshots for setting up iRedMail with Mailgun SMTP on an iPhone. Visit Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars:

For the incoming mail server, use your mail domain. But, for outbound mail, use Mailgun’s SMTP settings. You’ll be prompted with the SSL warning because you don’t have a certified SSL certificate, but you can click continue.

Now, you’ll be able to send and receive messages from your smartphone using your iRedMail server and Mailgun.

  1. For the mail client in OSX 10.9, for “incoming mail server”, user name needs to be your full email address. It took me a long time to figure this out. By the way, thanks for your great tutorial.
